Mission and Vision

Our mission is to provide an intensive artistic and social program, offered after-school in the city of Asheville to children in under served populations that uses music education as a transformative and empowering tool to teach life skills.

Our vision is that through participation in MusicWorks, students gain a lifelong interest in music. Music ensembles are used to teach crucial life skills and values including academic achievement, self-expression, teamwork, discipline, self-esteem, creativity, personal responsibility, mentoring others and membership in their community.


Staff Positions Available

Woodwind Teaching Artist

MusicWorks Asheville is looking for a Woodwind Teaching Artist beginning August 14. Candidate will work with other specialist teachers to coordinate music curriculum and teach woodwind lessons to elementary age students. Work hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, with occasional Fridays, 2:15-5:45 at Hall Fletcher Elementary School when Asheville City Schools is in session. Duties include

  • Teach weekly introductory lessons to wind instruments to kindergarten students

  • Teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced woodwind (flute and clarinet) lessons to 1st-5th grade students

  • Attend weekly staff meetings Mondays, 5:45-6:30
