Our Program

Music Instruction

Students work with master musicians and music educators in the areas of rhythm (bucket band), music theory (musicianship), singing (choir), and instrumental music (strings, winds, percussion). We schedule full orchestra, sectional, and individual rehearsals each week.

Academic Enrichment

Our specialists, certified teachers, work with students to complete homework and to develop skills in reading and math. We take pride in working together with classroom teachers to meet the needs of each student.

Social and Emotional Intelligence

We use research-based methods to teach social and emotional intelligence skills designed to help students succeed both academically and socially. We work tireless to ensure that MusicWorks students learn self-regulation and executive function skills that help them pay attention, remember directions, control their behavior, make friends, manage emotions, and solve problems.

Healthy Snack

MusicWorks students are provided a daily snack. Parents often supplement with donations of fresh fruits and vegetables. Several times a month, special guest artists join us for snack to demonstrate their skills and talents on various instruments.

Play

Students have the chance to exercise, get the wiggles out, and enjoy cooperative games like soccer, kickball, and basketball each afternoon.

Fostering Growth

“I believe the program helps in so many ways. Our children have grown in self esteem, maturity, and responsibility. As a metaphor for life, they have learned how to value and take care of their instruments. They know how to be part of a team (musical sections), and they have learned how to solo. They are better able to comfortably comport themselves in a truly responsible fashion in person, on the stage of life, and even when they think no one is looking. It has enhanced their ability to make positive choices for themselves.”
